Our Ministry Mission

To provide a loving environment where children with their families, in God’s timing, come into a relationship with Jesus Christ and grow as his disciples.

Our ministry seeks to partner with parents, as the primary influence in their children’s lives, to carry Sunday morning learning through the rest of the week.

Our weekly discipleship program offers a fun, multi-sensory, relational approach to engage kids in their faith walk. Teachers and small group leaders are committed to being open to a child’s need or desire to accept Christ as Lord and Savior. We encourage kids to bring friends!

What we learn together

Preschool
Kids ages 2-5 learn that they are God’s beloved children and that they were born to praise God. Our discipleship program for preschoolers emphasizes three fundamentals:

God made me.
God loves me.
Jesus is God’s son and He wants to be my friend forever.

Elementary
1st through 6th graders learn about the character of Jesus and apply these virtues to their daily lives. Our discipleship program emphasizes three fundamentals (found in Luke 2:52):

Faith: I can trust God no matter what.
Friendship: I will treat others the way I want to be treated.

Wisdom: I need to make the wise choice.

altWhere did our new name come from?  The Children’s and Family Ministry Team has been looking for a new name for a long time—something that would capture the fun and excitement, as well as the adventure of being a Christ-follower.  We call it a “trek” because becoming disciples of Jesus is a journey--one that lasts a lifetime--filled with great stories (God’s and ours!), challenges, surprises, fun, and teamwork.  Guided by mentors who have been on the path, traveling together, and gifted by God with our own special skills for the journey, we can help each other navigate toward God.   “252” refers to our guiding passage of scripture from Luke 2:52   “And Jesus grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.”

Trekkers are oriented to these three compass points:
Faith: I can trust God no matter what.
Friendship: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Wisdom:  I need to make the wise choice.

L’il Trekkers prepare for the big journey by learning the ropes.  In their own confidence course on Sunday mornings, preschoolers (ages 2-5 years) learn the fundamentals of our faith:  God made me; God loves me; Jesus wants to be my friend forever.  Every month, one of these themes will be illustrated in the large group story and families will have resources to help little ones learn how to talk to God and how to spot the many ways He loves us every day.

So the next time you invite kids to come to GPC, don’t invite them to Sunday School.  Invite them to join us on Trek 252-- a journey that will change lives!
