The Deacons Ministry at Glendale Presbyterian Church is one of compassion, outreach, and service to the body of Christ and the community. We are committed to use our unique giftedness, knowledge, skills, and resources to fulfill the needs of the body and community. The ministry operates under the direction of the congregational care pastor.
One area where all the deacons come together irrespective of their sub-ministry focus groups is the Shut-In Communion Service. Communion is served to shut-ins the first Sunday of each month by the deacons. Teams consisting of two deacons each will visit shut-ins who have requested communion to be served. Hal Hanable, Congregational Care Assistant, coordinates the program and determines the number of deacons needed for each communion Sunday.
